Great information on Vegan Bodybuilding

Before finding this book I did as I always have and just tried to keep fit and healthy with the information I gathered from the internet without much success.

When I saw this book I was so excited being a vegan almost all of the bodybuilding programs involve eating meat which it something I refuse to do. This book was so easy to follow and the diagrams showing workout moves for the 4 week training program are well illustrated which made it really easy for me to understand what I needed to do.

I loved the recipes my favourite one is the grilled Mediterranean vegetable on white bean mash which has now become one of my favourite meals, all the ingredients for the recipes are easy get hold of as I got all the ingredients from one shop plus the chillies which I grow myself.

Another part I found useful was the vegan bodybuilder’s diet plan that I found had some great tips. With the help of this book I was able to create my own workout program that’s works for me and I was able to change it slightly to suit my needs.

The FAQ section of the book really helped me understand the type of program I was about to start and just gave me that little bit more confidence to try and implement the ideas in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is a vegan and wants to start bodybuilding of just keep fit without eating meat.

Really not good

I had a lot of problems with this book. If you are vegan it will frustrate you with inaccuracies. If you aren't vegan and use his sample menus you may never stay vegan. The types of vegan diets and sample food plans recommended 1. Don't often make sense and 2. Don't often provide enough calories and therefore not enough nutrition. For instance under the raw vegan example the author recommends soy cheese. This is NOT a raw food and a raw vegan doesn't eat that. That is just one of many examples where it appears the author doesn't totally know what he is talking about and is likely a processed food vegan rather than a whole food one.

That said. I'm always glad when someone will promote veganism and help break the myth that vegans and raw vegans don't gain muscle. The bottom line is no one needs this book to lift and be vegan. If you follow a healthy vegan diet of real whole foods and you lift you will have gains.
