Irving Belateche is an author, screenwriter, and adjunct professor at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. Excellent!

Wow! Just finished it. It's a great ride, full of twists and turns and surprises. It's well written and sweeps you up into the mystery immediately. I also loved that the main character was smart and relentless. I don't want to post any spoilers, but I also thought it had a unique take on time travel. That was refreshing. Definitely a fantastic read!

A Surprisingly Entertaining Find

Okay, I will confess. I picked this one up because it was offered at 99 cents. I thought it might be worth trying. What I found was an engaging mix of history, plausible conjecture, and interesting action. I had trouble putting the book down and getting on with my life.

In my greed, looking for cheaper books on Kindle, I have to wade through lots of typos, poor spelling, and horrendous grammar. This book has none of those. It is a tight, well-written book with absolutely no distracting editing errors. The writing style kept me in the story, the characters were interesting and believable, and I found myself enjoying the book more than I ever would have imagined.

If I had any criticism, it would be that I thought it ended a little too abruptly, and would have liked to have known more in the "wrap-up." But, knowing what I know now, if I had it to do all over again, I would buy the book, and I would be willing to pay more than 99 cents.

Any other comments would be "spoilers," and I don't want to do that. If you are reading this, I want you to buy the book. I have never met the author, have no personal interest in publicizing this book, and will get no remuneration from recommending it. I just like sharing something I enjoyed this much.

A Fantastic Thriller

Einstein's Secret is the best thriller to come down the pike in a long, long time. I really enjoyed it. The book delivered on every level. There were so many great twists and turns that I kept thinking the author couldn't top that one and then he did! The book was well written. It was literary, but also easy to read. The story has a great science fiction hook, but it's an incredible thriller at its heart. I highly recommend you check out this book.

Ann Hall Marshall, 90, has been writing since her childhood; her kindergarten poetry was circulated throughout the Schenectady, New York, school system. Her later short stories, articles, and other work have been published in many venues. Throughout her busy life---raising ten children, building a home (literally), earning a graduate degree, and winning awards for her teaching adult education---she always aspired to write a good novel with likeable characters struggling through turmoil and crises to a satisfying conclusion. That's Crooked Lines. She enjoyed writing it, and hopes you enjoy reading it.

Crooked Lines - Struggling to find the right path

This novel does a great job of exploring the complexities of honor, greed, vanity, temptation and love in real people. It is a treat to find a book like Crooked Lines that gives life to its characters and explores these traits with the kind of honesty and sensitivity that brings to life the imperfect struggles of these characters to find the path that is right for them. Set in the stressful times of the great depression, Ann Hall Marshall portrays the lives of her main characters, George Keane, Father Ted Ames, Dorothy Capellini, Father Mark McMillan, and Millie Kraemer, with such sympathy and insight into the human condition that I could not wait to discover each next step in their journey. It is a great tale that struggles with moral dilemmas as the characters seek human fulfillment. Delightfully written and thoroughly enjoyable.

Crooked Lines - Facing Temptation

Do priests handle temptation differently than other people do? This first novel from Ann Hall Marshall explores that question with deep understanding and a light touch. Crooked Lines was a nice surprise: carefully crafted, interesting and easy to read. Set in Pittsburgh during the Great Depression, the story involves three priests and their relationships with a local tycoon, a soup kitchen volunteer, a university student. Two of the priests find themselves, separately and unbeknown to each other, in somewhat parallel situations which evolve and resolve in very different ways. Two strong women in the story, Dori and Millie, are filled with character and gumption, compassion and self respect. As the author has observed elsewhere, in this story it's not the conflicted man of God but Dori, the strong woman, who summons courage in the face of temptation. Ann Hall Marshall has handled the complexities of these intertwined lives deftly, giving her readers an engaging and thought-provoking experience. I've bought this for several people, have recommended it to others, and I'm looking forward to her next book!

I found this book a fascinating read. It contains a lot of local color and dialog. Plus there is the threat of priestly misconduct and broken vows, and the question of how these will resolve in the end. It would make a great movie!

This review is for the Kindle e-book version. The display is Greek only, with no parallel English translation. If you touch the Greek word (iPad), the definition, Strong's number, and a grammatical breakdown of the word, much as a Greek analytical would do, pops up. As one who has limited Greek proficiency, I find it helpful when I am doing a deep study on a short passage. If I were more proficient in Greek, I would use it as my primary way to read the New Testament. UPDATE / CORRECTION: If you touch the verse number, the King James version of the verse appears.

I really like this New Testament and I am trying to use it for my daily readings. It is great to be able to check on any word and get its definition and parsing information as well as an English translation when I need to.

My only quibble is that after I click a word to go to the lexicon I don't know how to get back to the passage I was reading. I don't know whether the lexicon is not linked back to the text or whether I just don't know what I am doing since I am new to Kindle...

Well, I figured out how to navigate as soon as I posted this. Now I am bumping this product to 5 stars.

The King James Version is a good choice for a reference text since the Textus Receptus and Patriarchal Text are so close to each other (both being in the Byzantine Textform family of manuscripts. There are some deviations, particularly in the Apocalypse, but it is usually easy to figure out what the Patriarchal reading is with the lexical aids provided.

What a great tool for the study of NT Greek

Although there has been an "interlinear" Greek NT in Kindle book format for the past couple of years or more, it does not allow the student to read just the Greek text and attempt to guess the meaning. The other work to which I am referring is also a valuable resource, which I use quite often, but it leaves the Greek text intercalated with English translations. This work by Figueroa links the word in the Greek text to a separate page (with a return link) where the Greek word is defined and grammatically parsed. I am quite pleased with this work and recommend it to students of the new covenant Scriptures who know enough Greek to make it a useful resource. And the price is right!

Oh, me! Book 3 has been hard to read, because of Damon's illness, and also because I've seen it firsthand in my family. However, The author has done a masterful job of illustrating that love can conquer so many hurts and concerns. And these guys (I'm thinking of them as real, a testament to the author) are awesome! It makes me wish I could be part of such a group in real life. Love is such a beautiful thing, especially when four guys are involved! Thanks, Sean, for reminding us.

Absolutely amazing.....Although Damon is half way through his chemo sessions he still pushes to meet at the cabin to draw straws.....Tork is the lucky bottom....There isn't as much sex in this one as a lot of their attention is to look after Damon....I loved this one though...They truly are all meant to be together...A perfect story and next we'll get Damon who hopefully will be fully recovered x

Another great one! I just love this group of guys! I keep checking (not stalking) this author's FB page to determine when the next one in this series is to release. The whole series is worth the read and if you have not read them all by this author, get them now! They are HOT but the connection and love between these characters is fabulous. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

For absolute beginners this book is NOT. I would recommend JavaScript, A Beginner's Guide for those who truly are absolute beginners. I was so lost within pages of this book, it wasn't even funny. If you have prior coding experience, then I'm sure this book is a good way to learn JavaScript, but from a blank slate point of view, this book is way too advanced for beginners.

The way McNavage wrote this book is quite interesting. He spends the first 150 pages talking about the basics such as types, "if" statements, and loops. His explanations on these chapters were overkill and I was glad to get through them and move onto the more interesting topics. However, in the more advanced chapters his explanations became short and rushed. He constantly used syntax that was simply not explained requiring me to go online and look up what those keywords actually told JavaScript to do. This process of needing to go online to look up additional information just to understand examples became expected and very frustrating. You can tell McNavage definitely knows his stuff but fails to look at his writings from a Beginner/Learner perspective. I found his examples about his personal hobbies and interests unnecessary and more distracting compared to the use of simple and clear examples. At some points he takes up an entire page just talking to you about his life and how it applies to the upcoming examples. Using objects to model Ben & Jerry's ice cream flavors and ingredients just became annoying and cumbersome on the pages. The book also has a large amount of obvious typos that continually had me guessing if what I was reading was actually correct. I did like how past code that was used in current examples was reprinted on the page so you did not have to flip back to previous pages. I enjoyed the book at many points and have definitely learned a lot. The book as a whole did not have the Apress quality that I was expecting but overall I would recommend the book if you are willing to work hard at understanding the examples and text.

JavaScript for beginners and professionals alike

I'm primarily an HTML and CSS developer, but increasingly I need to work with JavaScript to meet the requirements of my employer. I often use the jQuery library, which is great for performing specific tasks it is designed to do, such as making selections and simplifying animations and ajax. However, without a strong programming background, I often find it hard to keep up with my peers.

JavaScript for Absolute Beginners has changed that. I now have the vocabulary and understanding of the language that I need to communicate with my co-workers and work together on more advanced scripts. I'm now comfortable with Object Oriented Programming concepts, as well as the JavaScript syntax.

This book has too much information to absorb in a single pass. I will surely return to it in the future as I gain more experience working with the concepts I learned from my initial read. The first six chapters focus on JavaScript programming concepts and syntax. The final four chapters are a practical guide to using JavaScript to manipulate HMTL and CSS.

Despite the title "for absolute beginners", if you've never worked with JavaScript before, you may want to start with Jeremy Keith's "DOM Scripting", or any number of jQuery (or another JavaScript library) titles. This book contains so much information, it may be intimidating to someone who is trying to get up and running with JavaScript for the first time. However, after taking those baby steps, this books should be your next read.

Furthermore, this book is not just for beginners. Anyone who wants a better understanding of programming concepts, the JavaScript language, and how to use JavaScript with HTML and CSS should surely read.

I have used this book a lot for exam prep. It's easy to read. It's not highly technical, but it's thorough in a simplistic way. It's really good when used with an exam prep guide as a reference.

For anyone who is in the water treatment field this book is a must. Handy size, and the information is very helpful. Sample problems, and calculations in the back of the book are a great training aid.
