Unique information on the use of bach flowers externally!

The authors gives a great insight of how to use the Bach flower essences in other ways than the oral use. I have already tried out the advice there and I have been able to help many people. Of course, it doesn't do miracles with all patients but I would definitely recommend this book to all people who would like to help themselves and others break free from healing blocks and emotional stresses.

Great information about where to apply Flower Remedies or help determining which remedy to use if one is dealing with different issues in various places in the body. There is no information on how the Bach Remedies are used to support emotions so be sure you have another book for that.

Highly recommend

I have found this book to be extremely helpful. The authors are amazingly right on. It has helped me personally immensely and I cannot thank them enough! It is for someone who has previous knowledge of Bach Flower Essences only and wants to expand it. The companion book is helpful and necessary IF you don't have other references and/or Bach information. It would be helpful if the two were combined as one needs to identify the issue and essence and then go to this book. Or actually this book and my physical symptoms have also helped me to identify my issue. It works both ways. This put Bach Flower Essences on a whole new level for me. For me it has made a huge difference and 'speeded' up the process of healing and wholeness.

Get out there! As a Carolina country boy, I love getting out and getting dirty. it's how I exercise, really...but this book gives me lots of ideas to get my friends out. they're all desk boys...god bless them but they are out of shape...not that i have nothing to improve upon...i've lost weight but I remember the way I looked when I joined the Army... I want to be that fit again.

What A great book! It was so much more than I expected for the price! Nice photos of the exercises and a daily exercise plan for those who need the structure! I was also pleased that the author suggests the use of a LCHF Ketogenic way of eating and describes that eating plan in this book. This exercise plan could be used at work and even on the road! Excellent!

Mirsad's book is an excellent resource for health
enthusiasts everywhere. The program emphasizes
a total approach which includes knowing your
baseline measurements, eating a healthful diet
and exercising regularly.

The physical baseline numbers include weight,
waistline and BMI. The optimal diet includes
green veggies, fruits, high protein, seeds, nuts
and water. Protein sources include fish,eggs
and meats like turkey. Dairy should consist of modest
portions of yogurt, kefir or cottage cheese.

Mirsad recommends a robust home program of
exercise including things like yoga, cycling or
warrior stretch exercises. Overall, the program
is an ambitious one but very doable for the
person who is serious about lifetime health
and wellness issues.

I Hate Mysteries

I think I would have rated this a 5 if there hadn't been some editorial slipups. Grammar and use of words that are spelled correctly but not the one intended occasionally cropped up.

I hate mysteries. I read Unsettled Matters, Davis Miller's book, Bruce Thomas' book, and Linda's books. I've read all of the interviews and many of the documents at Divine Wind. I've viewed YouTube videos and watched the interviews with the 2 doctors who treated Lee in May, 1973. I never bought into the conspiracy theories, and the Equagesic seemed too neat a solution. The doctors' interviews, especially their claim that they expected to see Lee back in the ER in a short time, were compelling and the notion that Lee had gotten hold of bad hashish was attractive.

This book is a literature review done by a 3rd party medical professional. It offers reasonably accessible (for the layperson) explanations of the various theories that are not reliant on jargon. The conspiracy theories are laid to rest, which will not please the tinfoil crowd. The author corresponded with Bleecker and challenges Bleecker's assumptions regarding Lee's condition. The approach is logical and methodical, addressing the details about Lee's appearance, behavior, medical issues, and the limitations in the 70s of making a solid diagnosis of back injuries. At the end of the day the detailed explanations leave me believing that the hash wasn't it. The Equagesic kicked off the sequence of events in Lee's system leading to his death.

The author notes he reached out to the Bruce Lee Foundation and received no response. There is no way to know if his emails were received or simply ignored, which he acknowledges. My sense is that the family doesn't want to talk about this, they consider the matter closed. However, I believe the author made a useful point about the value of systematically saving, documenting, and analyzing the medical records. Unless and until that is done the speculation, and the hype, will continue unabated. I prefer the truth.

This book is a counterpoint to Unsettled Matters and worth owning based on its medical analysis.

This is the most logically written book regarding Lee's passing. If you have ever read Tom Bleecker's Unsettled Matters, this book methodically debunks several of Bleecker's faulty assumptions. In addition, the author logically debunks several misconceptions associated with Lee's passing.

If You Love Yes, You'll Love This Book

The Steve Howe Guitar Collection offers a look into the obsessions of a master musician. This chronological arrangement of the guitars Steve Howe has used gives fans like me a way to see how particular sounds have come to be made on albums we love. Howe writes small insights about each of the instruments, giving information like where he got them, how long he's owned them, and when he's used them. If you're interested this book is worth your while despite it's high cost.

If you appreciate guitars you will love this book

This is probably the single best book about the beauty of guitars that is around. Really you dont even have to appreciate Steve Howe to appreciate the incredible guitars in this book. Most importantly it reflects upon a time where luthiers and real artists made instruments. When you see these incredible instruments and compare them to the garbage that Gibson and Fender are putting out now its really just an amazing condemnation of what guitar making has sunk to. So many incredible pictures and as a bonus Steve Howe fans will find real nice insights into the instruments and a guy who is easily one of the most amazing guitar players ever to walk the earth.

This Is A Very Nice Book

I just got to say that this book is very nice. It has lots of pictures of Steve's guitars, especially his modified Gibson Les Paul Custom with four humbucking pickups. I borrowed this book from the library years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Unfortunately for this reviewer, it seems to him that he has no sense of sensitivity in respects of diversely talented musicians and he seems to forget that this book is all about Steve's large collection finest instruments. This book is not meant for those who have little respect for music or well-known human musicians like Steve Howe. This book is for those who have deep respect for musicians of all diversities. Steve Howe is a very good guitarist in his own right and a naturally unique human individual for all I can say!
Oh yeah one more thing, who says that Steve's guitar playing is soulless compare to other guitarists?
That is nonsense! Every guitarist is unique, period!

WHEN IS A PUPPET NOT A PUPPET?

Question: When is a puppet not a puppet?
Answer: When it's a corpse, of course!
Yes, In MacLean's _PUPPET ON A STRING_ this was one method that a psychopathic killer used to make his point -- his point being don't try to catch me or "this" could happen to you. "This" being your body hanging from a hook through your neck from a third story flagpole projected out over the street. Gruesome, huh?
The plot revolved around the efforts of Col. Sherman, an Interpol agent, to find and eliminate a major drug supplier in Amsterdam. Our psychopathic killer was a prominent player in, but not the "mastermind" of the drug distributors.
At times during this book, I wondered how Col. Sherman had survived as long as he had. On at least three occasions he was careless enough to get captured, severely beaten, and almost killed. Only a combination of a lot of luck and last second help from unexpected places kept him alive. He also made enough serious mistakes and overlooked the obvious with such frequency that his friends and aides often found themselves in serious trouble or, worse, turned up dead.
Those are the weak points. On the other hand, Sherman was remarkably resilient, and came out of each failure a little closer to finding out who was running the show and what ingenious methods were being used to smuggle the world's largest supply of heroin into those countries where it brought the highest prices.
The action was non-stop, and, at least to this reader, the ending did come as a surprise. I could easily picture it as a spy thriller movie starring whoever is the "star of the moment."
If you can suspend disbelief for a bit and just read _PUPPET ON A STRING_ as a fast paced thriller, I think you'll enjoy it in spite of a few "aw come on, he must be smarter than that" reactions. I know that I did.

The Drug Underworld of Amsterdam

Alistair Maclean's "Puppet on a Chain" is a thrill ride straight into the late 1960's drug underworld of Amsterdam. The story opens with the murder, in the middle of Schiphol Airport, of the contact for Maclean's protagonist, Paul Sherman. Sherman is a veteran Interpol Narcotics Bureau agent, used to independent action and blunt force tactics. He is assisted by two attractive female agents, one an experienced operative, the other a rookie. Sherman is in the Netherlands to break up a vicious drug smuggling ring that will kill ruthlessly to protect its operation.

"Puppet on a Chain" has the standard twisting plot, local atmospherics, and sardonic dialogue that were Maclean's trademarks as a story-teller. Maclean allows his protagonist to have a bantering relationship with his assistants that provides a streak of humor as the plot unfolds. Unfortunately, Sherman's relationship with his assistants will be used against him. As his investigation is undermined by betrayal, leaving him constantly a half-step behind his adversaries, Sherman will resort to increasingly violent action to turn the tables. The story culminates in a violent struggle above the streets of Amsterdam to save the life of his surviving female operative.

This book is highly recommended to fans of Alistair Maclean, and to other readers looking for an entertaining story.

Fun And Games On The Zuider Zee

Interpol agent Paul Sherman has just arrived in Amsterdam and before he can even leave Schiphol Airport he has already witnessed the gunning down of his key contact, been knocked half-unconscious by an assassin, and tangled with local authorities.

"Check whatever you like with whoever you like," he tells a dubious police officer about his credentials. "I suggest you start with Colonel van de Graaf at the Central HQ."

"You know the Colonel?"

"It's just some name I picked out of my head. You'll find me at the bar."

Alistair MacLean has fun with his sarcastic protagonist, and his levity is much needed with a storyline that gets gothic and overwrought. The drug trade is the nemesis in this taut action yarn, equal parts mystery and "Dirty Harry"-style rogue cop story.

Actually, I was reminded a lot of Nelson DeMille reading this, something I wasn't expecting. MacLean is known for his fast-paced action yarns, but not for the humor he shows off here, often and well. Like DeMille, MacLean here presents a wonderful narrative voice that deepens our sense of engagement with the tale's teller by using humor and a feeling for the moment that is at times quite fine.

Occasionally the plot seems to almost veer into parody, as when Sherman checks into a hotel and almost immediately is set upon by a hopped-up bellboy. There's also an attack by wimple-wearing haymakers and the use of a safe as torture device. I wish he had let himself go more in a comical direction with these ideas, but he had an army of readers who expected otherwise.

It's not an easy book to follow, maybe because I was reading it too fast. One bit on the last page between Sherman and a woman is especially odd; I'm still not sure if he was proposing to her or exposing her as a double agent. The villains, when revealed, as not exactly who you expect in part because their motives and modus operandi make no sense. Of course, MacLean is writing for effect here, nowhere more so than in the title image of a Dutch doll hanging from a hook, which the bad guys use to demonstrate their menace. Why? Don't ask, just keep reading.

But that's the easy part. It's a fast, fun read. The best bit is when Sherman does some investigating of a barge operating around the Zuider Zee; MacLean's ability to convey the sense of the natural world and its elements is on full display in a night scene with "the faint threnody of the wind and the soft creaking and rubbing as the wind made the barges work gently at their moorings." After eluding some assassins, Sherman gets on the wheelhouse roof and quickly realizes he's likely to freeze to death in the hard winter cold coming off the water.

Since he's telling you all this, you sense Sherman will pull through, but MacLean keeps many balls in the air and the reader isn't let off so easy. You might feel a little like that puppet on a chain as MacLean dangles your expectations and pulls your strings; but his intentions are honorable and it's all in good fun.

Era of bad feelings and good results.

in 1789 the U.S. was anarchic and in financial difficulty. How the new constitution would work and if it would survive were far from certain. M. ably tells the story of how the country was formed. Fortunately, the Federalists pushed for a strong central government. Hamilton was, of course, the leading proponent of ideas. As an organizer and plotter he was extremely inept. The book allows the author the leisure to describe those early developments in detail.
among the details is the unfettered vitriol of the press. there were two fox news channels, one for each of the emerging parties. neither valued truth or even its most distant relatives.
the growth of parties was a major factor in improving voter turnout, which was low.
The Federalists turned the paper constitution into a manageable system--and then expired from their own elitism. We can, however, be glad that they had their day. Amateur historians who wish to understand U.S. history will benefit from this book.
